Indian Trail Animal Hospital is Currently Closed

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the Spokane Complex Fire. Indian Trail Animal Hospital is currently closed, but our team and all animals in our care were safely evacuated.

Below are resources for community members who need assistance or would like to help. Conditions and resource needs are changing quickly, so please confirm availability before traveling to a donation or shelter location.

Emergency Shelter

The American Red Cross is currently assisting Spokane-area evacuees with shelter, meals and other emergency services. The Red Cross says three shelters are currently operating and encourages evacuees to check its shelter locator or call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) for the most current locations.

The Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., has also been serving as a major evacuation shelter. Current Spokane County Emergency Management information indicates that pets are welcome there.

Help for Evacuated Animals

Spokane County Fairgrounds

404 N. Havana St., Spokane Valley

The Fairgrounds has been designated for animals displaced by the fires, including space for evacuated animals and RVs accompanying animals. Current emergency information directs animal evacuees to enter through the red gate off Broadway.

SpokAnimal is also helping care for displaced pets. Community reports confirmed that its veterinary facility at 715 N. Crestline St. has been accepting dog food, cat food, blankets and towels specifically in response to the fires.

SpokAnimal’s website confirms the Crestline location and also accepts monetary donations, which can give the organization flexibility to purchase exactly what is needed.

Spokane Humane Society

The Spokane Humane Society also accepts in-kind donations including pet food, blankets and toys at its main campus:

Donations can be left on the stone bench at the right side of the main building 24/7.

Equine Evacuation Support

Humane Evacuation Animal Rescue Team (HEART). HEART is also working at the Spokane Fairgrounds with a focus on equine species and large animals.

LOA Youth Ranch. This non-profit provides a therapy service through rescued horses. We understand that they are currently providing shelter space for horses that have had to relocate. You can support their ongoing work, including the care of these displaced horses, through their horse sponsorship program.

Donations can also be made directly to the Washington State Animal Health Foundation, and 100% of any donations received will be used for this emergency response in support of animals in the Spokane region. When donating, please select “Disaster and Emergency Assistance” as the designated fund.
